| On both Saturdays, November 25th and December 2nd, at 3:30, the LeDuc Historic Estate will host teas celebrating the main era during which the LeDuc family lived in the house. Costumed reenactors will abound at these teas, performing some readings to entertain. The house will be decorated for the season, highlighting the beauty of this Gothic Revival home and setting the stage for an interpretive program on the Victorian era beginnings of many of our Christmas traditions. Three teas will be served and paired with wonderful food from the LeDuc kitchen. Seating is limited, so call early and please, come hungry! |

Hastings is pleased to be a host stop for the Canadian Pacific Railway’s lighted Holiday Train and musical show. Kelly Prescott and Colin James will be performing. The Holiday Train will arrive at the Train Depot on 2nd Street at approximately 8:30 p.m.
Since 1999, Canadian Pacific Railway (CPR) has been running a freight train decorated with thousands of Christmas lights to raise awareness on the issue of hunger prevalent in all communities and to raise funds and food for each of the local food banks or pantries were the train stops.
Each train has a "stage car." These are renovated boxcars containing stage lights and sound equipment. At each of the stops in Canada and the U.S. Midwest and Northeast, entertainers who ride along on the train perform 20 to 30 minute outdoor concerts.
The Holiday Train is a prop for hunger relief efforts. No food or cash is loaded onto the train to be taken away. Food and cash will be donated to Hastings Family Service. Cash donations are especially appreciated, but nonperishable food items are also welcome. For further information visit www.cpr.ca.
Come and join in the festivities and listen to the carolers as they sing some of your favorite Christmas songs.

Whether your experience with government is limited to voting for elected officials or you lobby your representatives on a weekly basis, this program will walk you through a comprehensive, non-partisan, grassroots experience at the local, state and federal level. December 19, 2017 - Grassroots Engagement - Learn how to influence democracy. Participants will learn how to effectively participate in a grassroots campaign for your company. Graduation ceremony to follow, guests welcome.

Have you ever wondered what bird banding is all about? Bird Banding records can help us learn how long birds live, where they travel, when and where they migrate and many other interesting facts. Carpenter Nature Center has been banding birds for over 30 years. On the fourth Friday of the month bird banding is open to the public.
There is no program fee, but donations of Bird Seed and Suet are greatly appreciated.
