| The Affinity Plus Foundation is now accepting applications for its annual scholarship program. This year, the foundation will be awarding eight, $5,000 scholarships to student members of Affinity Plus. In an effort to maximize the reach and impact of the scholarships, a scholarship will be given to two students from each of the following student categories: • incoming freshmen • upperclassmen • nontraditional • graduate Applicants are able to self-select the category from which they would like to be considered. The online application is open now through January 31, 2017. Applicants must be a primary member of Affinity Plus and provide transcripts and an essay response. Nontraditional and graduate students also need to submit two letters of recommendation. Scholarship dollars awarded are intended for expenses for the 2017-2018 school year. A Lunch Mob is a flash mob, but instead of singing and dancing, we'll spontaneously network at an area restaurant over lunch, and have a great time while doing it. Five Scotches will be interpreted, along with the history of the individual distilleries and their story within British & American history. Have you ever wondered what bird banding is all about? Bird Banding records can help us learn how long birds live, where they travel, when and where they migrate and many other interesting facts. Carpenter Nature Center has been banding birds for over 30 years. On the fourth Friday of the month bird banding is open to the public.
There is no program fee, but donations of Bird Seed and Suet are greatly appreciated.
