Jul 3    The Island’s 11th Annual Block Party


Celebrate summer with a bang at The Island’s 11th Annual Block Party on July 3! Bring the whole family out for food trucks, live music from Hitchville and Switch and a live broadcast from KS95’s Ryan. Everything leads up to the main event at dusk; the biggest fireworks display around. The Block Party offers fun for the whole family and is free to attend. However, outdoor seating is limited, so you may want to bring your own lawn chair, but no coolers please. Don’t miss summer’s perfect kick-off celebration; join in the fun and festivity of The Island’s Block Party!

Prairie Island Indian Community Pow Wow The Prairie Island Indian Community hosts the annual Wacipi Dance Championships and Singing contest during the Wacipi Celebration July 8-10. Experience Native American history and traditions through these exciting competitions. Grand Entry performances begin the celebration each day starting on Friday, July 8 at 7pm, Saturday, July 9 at 1pm and 7pm and Sunday, July 10 at 1pm. Come to watch, listen and feel Native American culture and history come to life. Visit the many vendor booths or try a variety of Native foods that are available. The popular Vermillion Falls Walking tour returns to the LeDuc Historic Estate on the second Saturday of July, August & October at 10:00 a.m. Visitors will gather at the LeDuc house and then proceed to the Vermillion Falls area. Prepaid reservations at $11 per person are required by calling 651-438-8480. The walking tour also includes a guided tour of the magnificent LeDuc Historic Estate. The walking tour will take visitors to Hastings' most beautiful park, just blocks from the Estate. Visitors will learn how the Vermillion River and the milling industry shaped Hastings, while taking in the natural beauty of the river and the breathtaking falls.

Arioso Jazz is one of the most versatile jazz trios the Twin Cities has to offer. The LeDuc Historic Estate will host a painting class with Dave Youngren on Sunday, July 10, 2 -4 p.m. Registration is required by calling 651-438-8480. The theme for the painting session is "Daisies for Alice" and is based on the beautiful daisies that grow in the LeDuc gardens. On Friday, July 15th at 3:00 p.m., Freedom Flight, Inc., The Prisoner of War-Missing in Action (POW-MIA) Hot Air Balloon (WEATHER/GROUNDS PERMITTING) will be at Veteran's Park.  A well worth opportunity to tether will be available with a recommended donation of ten (10) dollars per person. Have you ever wondered what bird banding is all about?  Bird Banding records can help us learn how long birds live, where they travel, when and where they migrate and many other interesting facts.  Carpenter Nature Center has been banding birds for over 30 years.  On the fourth Friday of the month bird banding is open to the public. 
There is no program fee, but donations of Bird Seed and Suet are greatly appreciated.

Join the Animal Ark with Kare11 at the shelter from 10:00 a.m - 6:00 p.m. Clear the Shelters, the wildly successful nationwide pet adoption drive that took our community and the country by storm in 2015 with over 20,000 animals finding their forever homes!

Kare11 will doing two live news broadcasts with us- one in the morning and one in the evening.

Enjoy our specially made Sangria as you move to the groove, available only during Jazz Sundays. We have local artisan cheeses, bread, salami, spreads, cookies, brownies and more available to purchase.  All ABV wines will be available for tasting and purchasing.

No cost to attend for winery customers.
