Aug 3    Monarch Butterfly Release
Monarch Butterfly Release
Caring Hands Massage & Spa

Come learn about raising monarch butterflies, butterfly gardening, the incredible migration monarchs make to Mexico each fall and ways you can preserve this endangered phenomenon.

Monarchs will be released at Caring Hands at 1:00 p.m.  A short presentation showing examples of various stages of monarch caterpillars and chrysalis will also be included.  For a $5.00 donation, you can take a monarch home to release in your own garden.  Proceeds benefit The Monarch Project, a program designed to educate, advocate and give back to the community.  Working with kids, seniors and women's shelters, the goal is to help preserve and protect monarchs and the endangered migration phenomenon through programs that provide art therapy programs benefiting those in need.

Three vaccinations will be provided at no cost:

  • tetanus-diphtheria-pertussis/whooping cough (Tdap)
  • meningococcal (bacteria that causes meningitis)
  • HPV (human papillomavirus, which can cause cancer)
Changes in the Minnesota School Immunization Law that go into effect this fall affect all students entering 7th grade, and the vaccinations are highly recommended for all middle and high school students.
The vaccines have been provided through a federal vaccine fund. Dakota County Public Health is offering the vaccinations to help families take this important step to protect the health of adolescents.
The Back2School clinic is walk-in only - no appointment required. Children must be accompanied by an adult and each child must have a signed permission form from their parent or legal guardian. Parents should bring the child’s immunization records, if available.
Please help us promote the clinic – a flyer in English and Spanish is attached. More information and forms are available on the Dakota County website or by calling the Immunization Information Line at 952-891-7999.
